Alpe-Adria Trail

Hike along the Alpe-Adria-Trail, which connects the three regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia with a total of 43 stages covering 750 kilometers. It can be walked by ambitious hikers either as a whole or in individual stretches. In total this long-distance hiking trail leads from the foot of the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner, through the most attractive mountain and lake regions of Carinthia, across the Nockberge Mountains and to Muggia/Trieste on the Adriatic.

Three stages of the Alpe-Adria Trail – from the Erlacherhaus via the Falkerthaus and the Lärchenhütte to Bad Kleinkirchheim and on to Arriach – lead directly into the Nockberge Biosphere Park via Bad Kleinkirchheim, and were officially opened in autumn 2012.

You will find more information here.

“Berggenießer” hosts

Inspired by the opening of the Alpe-Adria-Trail in the Nockberge Mountains, and wanting to increase the attractiveness of Bad Kleinkirchheim as a hiking destination, in 2013 a total of 13 establishments, including the Hotel Trattlerhof, joined forces as experts on hiking in the Nockberge Mountains. The “Berggenießer” hosts will ensure the success of your hiking holiday in Bad Kleinkirchheim with their expert knowledge and the best service. They have created detailed descriptions of 12 routes around the Alpe-Adria Trail including personal tips on things such as chalet cuisine and special places.

nock/art – a hikeable art project

nock/art is the combination of sports and nature experience, extended by the additional dimension of spiritual diversion through art and culture. Looking at the richness of the landscape and lifestyle of the region in connection with the importance of the thermal springs for Bad Kleinkirchheim, this concept fits into a coherent whole.

Over the next few weeks, six varied hiking trails will highlight the special features of the cultural landscape by means of a small number of focused art interventions. These will not be major interventions into the natural or cultural space, but instead, local materials will be worked into very direct and appealing designs.
