The Römerloipe trail in Bad Kleinkirchheim

The Römerloipe trail stretches over eight kilometers and is designed for classic cross-country skiing and skating. The Römerloipe is equally suitable for first attempts at cross-country skiing and for extended training sessions. Its moderately difficult profile leads through the golf course of Bad Kleinkirchheim and offers a successful combination of exercise and enjoyment of nature.

Thanks to snowmaking, it can be used throughout the winter. In addition, the trail is illuminated every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from dusk until 8:00 p.m. During the Christmas and semester breaks, this is even the case every day. This makes the Römerloipe trail ideal for a late cross-country skiing excursion after a classic day of skiing on the slopes.

The prices for using the Römerloipe are €10 for a day pass, €45 for a week pass, and €110 for a season pass. Cross-country skiers under the age of 16 can use the trails free of charge. If there is enough snow, the trail can be extended to Gnesau, opening up access to a total of 45 kilometers of trails.

Weissensee

The Weissensee offers around 50 kilometres of groomed trails, ideal for leisure skiers and beginners. The Seewiesen trail right by the lake, surrounded by the surrounding mountain landscape, is particularly popular. Cross-country skiing novices can take courses at the cross-country skiing school, while equipment is available from "Alpensport Weissensee". A special highlight is the biathlon facility with laser shooting range in Techendorf – an exciting combination of cross-country skiing and shooting. The trail fee is 8 euros.

Nassfeld

Nassfeld is a paradise for ambitious cross-country skiers. With a network of 130 kilometres of trails, including two high-altitude trails directly on the mountain, the Nassfeld-Pressegger See region offers impressive variety. The trails lead through the Gailtal and Gitschtal valleys and up to an altitude of 1,500 metres, ideal for skaters, classic cross-country skiers and biathlon enthusiasts.

A special highlight is the Nordic Competence Centre with its biathlon training facility at the Millennium Express, which is perfect for training sessions. The cross-country skiing school offers courses for beginners and advanced skiers, while equipment can be hired directly on site.

Villacher Alpe/Dobratsch

The Villach Alpine Arena offers six kilometres of trails for classic cross-country skiing and skating, 2.5 and 3.3 kilometres of which are FIS-approved racing trails. An energy-efficient snow-making system ensures snow reliability, and daily lighting until 7:30 p.m. also allows for evening cross-country skiing sessions. Children will enjoy the adjacent toboggan hill.

In the Dobratsch Nature Park, at 1,500 metres above sea level, the challenging Alpengarten high-altitude trail awaits you with routes between two and 5.5 kilometres in length – a highlight for the athletically ambitious. Tickets for the trails are available from £9, and the ski hire offers cross-country skiing equipment for all sizes.

 

Lavanttal: Secret tips for families with gentle routes

The "Lavanttal" offers varied trails for skaters and classic cross-country skiers. The Hebalm cross-country skiing centre covers 12 kilometres, complemented by floodlighting and refreshment stops. Day tickets cost €8, and equipment and courses are available.

On the "Weinebene", a 15-kilometre-long, double-tracked circular trail invites you to use it free of charge, with rental and course offers available on site. This makes it ideal for families. Other smaller trails, such as those on the "Brandlalm" or in "Reichenfels", are also available when there is sufficient snow.
